MLB: The Braves have made an announcement about their future on TV

By BRIAN LOUIS/Associated PressBraves center fielder J.D. Martinez, who was a key part of the Braves’ 2014 World Series run, has been named as the team’s new head coach.

Martinez, who won the Triple Crown with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2008, has a track record of success in his first few years in baseball, leading the Atlanta Braves to a record of 94-47 in his time with the club.

He was the club’s first All-Star and was voted a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.

The announcement comes two days after the Braves named John Schuerholz their new head of player development.

Schuerholzes predecessor, Paul DePodesta, was hired to replace Martinez, which will take effect when the Braves open a new season on April 10.

Schuerto Rico’s Major League Baseball team has had a tumultuous offseason as it struggles to win and contend for a World Series berth.

Atlanta’s losing streak of 10 games is the second longest in baseball.

The Braves are trying to improve on a season in which they finished with the worst record in the NL East.

They are currently in seventh place in the National League East with a record that sits at 41-43.
